2008 Celtic Festival Fine Art Print: Celtic Water Tree
I have been making artwork for the festival since 1993 and this is 13th in the series.
Each piece is created to tell a story and for me has become a visual invitation to an annual celebration of music, dance, storytelling and craft art in the Celtic tradition.
Prints will include the title "Celtic Water Tree" with my signature and the year, 2008 and will come in in a clear bag with foam core backing.
Artist Notes
The 2008 festival design celebrates water and trees.
Its beginnings come from working with Goderich District Collegiate Institute drama students and their teacher/guide David Armour on their award winning play about the Celtic warrior queen Boudicca and her uprising against the invading Romans in AD 60.
The willow on the water is a sacred site in the play. This is the foundation for the design’s elemental flow of earth, air, fire and water.
In the making I most enjoyed watching the rainbow colours emerge from the mouths of dragons as fire and water transform into colour and light.
